MATCH LENGTH

ALWAYS IN WITH A CHANCE

A fresh start every round.

After each match, everyone plays with new team-mates and against new opponents. Nobody is stuck with the same team throughout the tournament. Solo puts the teams together; you announce them or show them on a screen.

POINTS PER PLAYER

You play as a team.
The team result counts towards each player’s individual score.

After each match, Solo records the result and the team’s goals for every player on that team. Each player builds their own position in the standings as they play in different teams.

Results from round 2, with points for each player and the updated individual standings.

SOLO WORKS IT ALL OUT

Making new teams is easy. Keeping the mix fresh is harder.

After a few rounds, there’s a lot to work out. Who’s already played together? Who keeps facing the same opponents? Are all the results and individual points still correct? And what happens if a player drops out or joins late?

Solo takes all the rounds into account. It creates new teams each time, giving players as many different team-mates and opponents as possible, then updates the individual standings.

01

Everyone plays every round

Even when the player numbers don’t divide neatly, nobody has to sit out. If one team is larger, Solo rotates who takes the extra place across the rounds.

02

The standings are accurate

Solo records the team’s result for every player. No lists to get wrong, and no arguments afterwards about points added up incorrectly.

03

The schedule adapts as you go

If a player drops out or someone joins later, just update the players or format. Solo will recalculate the remaining rounds.

HOW TO ORGANISE A SOLOTEAMCUP

You mark out the pitches. Solo does the rest.

01

Add the players

Add all your players at once with a player list, or enter them one at a time.

02

Choose the format

SoloTeamCup recommends a suitable format for your number of players. You choose the number of rounds and teams, the team size, pitch names and match length. Matches of 6–8 minutes usually work well.

03

Mark out the pitches

We recommend a suitable pitch size based on the number of players per team. Mark out the pitches and you’re ready to begin.

04

Play the rounds

A new set of teams is ready for each round. Enter the scores after the matches. You decide whether to show the current standings as you go or keep them for the end.

05

Announce the winner

Once the final result is in, the individual final standings are ready. The player with the most points wins the SoloTeamCup.

AFTER ROUND 5

One individual winner

Every team result counts towards the final standings.

One individual winner Every team result counts towards the final standings.

Share the teams and standings on a second screen

You can manage everything from your phone. Want to share the information with your players? Open the second screen on an internet-connected phone, tablet, iPad, laptop or TV. Show the teams, display the current standings between rounds or keep them for the end. Use your own background featuring your club colours, logo or sponsors.

The second screen shows round 3 with two pitches and players with and without bibs, as displayed on a laptop, tablet and phone.

“The kids just kept going throughout the session. Seeing those happy faces was brilliant. And I could relax on the sidelines, because there was actually very little for me to do.”

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Ready for kick-off.

How are the points calculated?

By default, each player earns 10 points for a win, 5 for a draw and 0 for a loss. Each player also earns one point for every goal their team scores. You can change this scoring system in the advanced settings.

What team sizes can I choose?

You can play anything from 1v1 to 8v8. SoloTeamCup recommends a suitable format for your player numbers. Smaller teams and more pitches give the system more ways to vary the mix of players.

Does anyone have to sit out each round?

No. Every player takes part in every round. If the player numbers don’t divide neatly, one team may be larger. You decide whether to have the players take turns as the substitute or let everyone play at once; Solo shares the extra place as fairly as possible across the rounds.

What if a player drops out or joins later?

You can update players and settings during the tournament. SoloTeamCup then recalculates the remaining rounds for the current group.

How long does a SoloTeamCup last?

You decide by choosing the number of rounds and the match length. Matches of 6–8 minutes usually work well. Allowing time for results, new teams and a short break, you can often complete a tournament in about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Use fewer rounds to make it shorter.

Do I need a large second screen?

No. You can run the whole tournament from your phone, call out the teams yourself or show your phone screen. To share information, use any internet-connected device as a second screen: a phone, tablet, iPad, laptop or TV.

Do I have to show players the current standings?

No. You choose whether to talk the players through the live standings or show them on a second screen. You can also keep the standings hidden and announce the winner only after the final match.

Can I share access to a tournament with other co-organisers?

Yes. Invite co-organisers to a tournament by email. They receive a personal link that is valid for 24 hours, then work from their own account. A co-organiser can manage multiple shared tournaments alongside their own. As the owner, you can revoke access at any time. Only you can start the tournament, use credits and manage co-organisers.

Can I try the system beforehand?

Yes. After purchase, a practice tournament is ready for you. Try everything at your own pace without using the credit for your real tournament.
